02/17/2009
This short certificate is designed for people with solid office skills, reception
and customer-service skills, and/or recent office experience who want to add entry-level
knowledge for dental office employment. The short certificate also provides the opportunity
to update office technology skills to prepare to return to the workforce, make a job
change, or advance a current dental-office staff career.
The spring online Dental Office Management class, the core required class for this certificate, covers dental terminology, practice-management strategies, interpersonal skills, managing clinical records, and dental HIPAA/OSHA/WISHA regulations.
Take it with a choice of classes in accounting, business information technology, and job development to complete the certificate. Spring classes include: Accounting Fundamentals (ACCT 101), Business English (BSTEC 107), Spreadsheet-Excel (BSTEC 224), Career Management (BSTEC 294), and Resumes and Interviewing (JOBDV 110).
Edmonds College’s dental front-office class helps give administrative professionals an edge for working in dental offices and clinics. Possible employers include solo-practice dental offices, larger multi-doctor clinics, public dental health clinics, federal-government dental clinics, and school clinics.
In addition to teaching general office skills, Edmonds College’s Business Information Technology department also provides specialized training to prepare administrative professionals for work in legal, medical, and financial offices.
