Lynnwood Municipal Court offers debt reductions for fines in May

“Everyone has occasional financial difficulties and more people are having them now than in recent memory," said Lynnwood Municipal Court judge Stephen Moore. "This program is an opportunity to pay off old fines and penalties at a substantial savings. Our hope is that many people who lost their driving privileges because of unpaid fines will be relicensed by taking advantage of this program.”

Designed to help those with outstanding traffic tickets and fines, Lynnwood Municipal Court's program waives all interest accrued and 50 percent of the collection fees for those who can pay their accounts in full. For those, the court will remove the hold on licenses for people who set up payment plans at AllianceOne.  

The court is offering the program from May 1 through May 31, 2009. Those with outstanding tickets or fines should contact the AllianceOne directly by calling 1-800-456-8838. 

One of the main goals of the program is to assist citizens with regaining driver’s licenses after being revoked due to unpaid fines and fees. Once tickets are paid in full and reported to the court, the court will notify the Washington State Department of Licensing (DOL) to clear the driving record. The driver may be able to obtain a valid driver’s license 48 hours later if no other offense on the driving record prevents it.
