The United States Institute of Peace has granted English instructor Sarah Zale a scholarship to its annual seminar for community college faculty and administrators.
The seminar, Global Peace and Security in Community Colleges and the Communities They Serve, will be held June 3-7 in Washington, DC.
The institute is an independent nonpartisan national institution established and funded by Congress. Its mission is to help prevent, manage, and resolve violent conflicts by empowering others with knowledge, skills, and resources, as well as through direct involvement in peace-building efforts.
The seminar will give participants the opportunity to carefully examine the nature of international peace and security and how community colleges can relate this to their students and local communities. Presenters will include leading authorities on global peace and conflict, as well as from the field of community college education.
