Instructor speaks at conference on Teaching Undergraduates Mathematics

05/19/2009

In May, instructor Pat Averbeck spoke at a conference on Teaching Undergraduates Mathematics at the University of California Berkeley's Mathematical Science Research Institute.

He spoke about the transition issues for students going from high school to college math courses. Averbeck has been working on the state's Transition Mathematics Project with the Edmonds Articulation Council.

The project aims to help students successfully progress from high school to college-level math classes without remediation. High school and college math educators work together to identify the math skills high school graduates need to complete college-level work and meet minimum college admission requirements.
