Go green and get the sustainable construction skills you need. Earn the Construction Industry Training certificate. Our core program is a 23-credit certificate for students seeking entry-level construction jobs or pre-apprenticeship training. You can earn the certificate in just three quarters by attending two classes in the evening each week. Prior experience is not required. This is a great choice if you are seeking an entry-level construction job or pre-apprenticeship training or if you are in the construction industry and want to expand your knowledge.

Classes cover the latest methods and materials using a combination of lecture, demonstration, and hands-on projects. You will learn how the construction industry works and how to plan for a successful career in this field.

You will learn: • Construction safety • Manual and power tool usage

• Blueprint reading • Construction materials • Blueprint site layout

• Concrete footings and foundations • Structural trades • Plumbing

• Electrical • HVAC • Interior finishes • Flagger certificate • OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health) 10-hour certificate • CPR and First Aid • Internship

Start the 23-credit Construction Industry Training Certificate this fall with Core Construction Skills I, CIT 103 (class meets: 5:30-9 p.m., Mon. and Wed., Sept. 21-Oct. 28) and Core Construction Skills II, CIT 104 (class meets: 5:30-9 p.m., Mon. and Wed., Nov. 11-Dec. 7).

New this fall: Energy Efficiency Technician Certificate (17 credits)

Gain construction and weatherization skills. Learn to work with energy efficiency construction techniques and auditing equipment. Start this fall with Energy Efficiency Technician, CIT 155U. Class meets: 5:30-9 p.m., Tuesdays, Sept. 22-Oct. 14 and two Saturdays, 9 a.m.-3 p.m., Oct. 3 and 10. This certificate counts toward a two-year Energy Management degree.
