Edmonds College renewed its membership in the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education. The association is a network of schools, businesses, and organizations working to advance sustainability — using resources wisely for environmental, social and economic benefits.

The college’s membership includes discounts to AASHE-sponsored workshops, events, and conferences, access to members-only online resources, and opportunities for networking, information sharing, collaboration, and professional development for the entire campus.

Sustainability is one of the college’s strategic initiatives and is part of the college philosophy which reads, “Edmonds College is a community of learners, which upholds integrity and high educational standards and affirms the value of lifelong learning and sustainability.”

A few of the sustainability projects on campus include participating in the development of Curriculum for the Bioregion with the Washington Center at Evergreen State College, service-learning projects in partnership with local environmental organizations, grounds/recycling projects and the inclusion of many sustainable elements in the college’s master plan.
