Earn professional Information Security certifications: AccessData, CyberSecurity

Edmonds College information security instructors Steve Hailey and Mike Andrew are now AccessData Certified Examiners and the college is an AccessData Academic Program Partner. This quarter, 82 students enrolled in Digital Forensics III, CIS 293, will take the AccessData Bootcamp Course as part of their curriculum to prepare for the AccessData Certified Examiner test.
Edmonds College is the only college in the state which prepares students for both the AccessData Certified Examiner and CyberSecurity Forensic Analyst industry-recognized certifications.
Andrew and Hailey were also recently among the first in the nation to earn a new credential in Digital Forensics, which formally recognizes their demonstrated expertise and experience in the field. They earned the Digital Forensic Certified Practitioner (DFCP) designation from the Digital Forensic Certification Board, which is endorsed by the National Center for Forensic Science and the National Institute of Justice.
Hailey will assist the board to develop questions for its new certification tests.
Students in Edmonds College's Information Security program also have opportunities to test for the CyberSecurity Forensic Analyst (CSFA) certification.
The CFSA certification offered through Edmonds College for digital forensics students is recognized by the (ISC) — the organization that developed and sponsors the CISSP certification. The CSFA is on the (ISC) approved list for a one year experience waiver towards the CISSP, Certified Information Systems Security Professional.
Students at Edmonds College who have completed Computer Information Systems classes 201, 272 and 273 have the opportunity to test for CyberSecurity Forensic Analyst certification. The CFSA is an industry-recognized certification for digital forensics examiners which was recently acknowledged by the American Bar Association as a nationally recognized indicator of competence, knowledge, and skill in the field.
Computer forensics experts developed the certification test. Candidates complete a computer forensic case and submit an analysis of their findings to obtain the certification.
Digital forensics specialists may serve as experts in legal cases involving digital evidence. Edmonds College's Information Security, Network Security, and Digital Forensics classes provide hands-on exercises focusing on real world case examples.
