Presidential search underway: Now screening applicants

The Board of Trustees is conducting a national search for a new president of Edmonds College, a two-year public college in Washington state. In March, Jack Oharah, who has led the college for 14 years, announced his plan to retire at the end of 2010. The deadline for first consideration for applicants was July 20.
The president of Edmonds College serves as the college’s chief executive officer on a 50-acre campus located 15 miles north of Seattle and attended by 20,000 students annually. The college has 1,700 employees and a $45 million operating budget.
The college seeks a candidate with a doctorate or master’s degree and a minimum of three years senior-level administrative experience, preferably at a community college.
Trustees Jeannette Wood, Dick Van Hollebeke, Mauri Moore, Quentin Powers, and Emily Yim will select finalists for the position with the help of a 17 member presidential search committee made up of representatives from the community as well as college students and employees.
