Community college board to discuss 21st century learning infrastructure

On Wednesday, the board will discuss progress toward the system’s Mission Study recommendations
to build a 21st century learning infrastructure. As part of the Student Voice Task
Force, a panel of students will also engage in the conversation, sharing how they
use college space, what types are important to them, and how the colleges’ physical
environment and access to technology affects their education. Students will discuss
how college buildings and existing technologies currently supports their learning
goals and also share suggested areas of improvement.
During its regular board meeting on May 12, the board will have preliminary discussions on the 2012 operating budget and potential tuition increases in preparation for future decision-making based on the Legislature’s final 2011-13 operating budget. The board will also hear an update on the two-year college system’s Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) project, including findings and recommendations from the ERP readiness assessment.
The board and executive director will meet for dinner at Water Street Café, 610 Water Street SE, Olympia, on Wednesday, May 11 at 5:30 p.m.
