News from IDEA Odyssey Gallery
Minh Carrico, a multi-disciplinary artist and instructor & Co-Chair of the Visual Art Department at Edmonds College explains: “ 'States of Demise' reveals the unspoken and varied messages that can be found within a single photograph.” Inspired by the daily news, up-to-the minute blogs, and personal conversations, he noted 50 reoccurring topics during the course of a year that addressed the present state of our society and led to the events on 9/11.
“The collective observations represent our nation’s changes in values and principles for the better or the worse of the country,” he says.
Carrico’s installation will be the second exhibit of the newly formed IDEA Odyssey Collective and Gallery. The visual arts collective was formed to promote cultural diversity, community and economic development in the International District. Carrico is a co-founding member.
Upcoming gallery events include:
- Sat., Sept. 24, 2-4 p.m.: Open house to learn about the gallery and membership
- Thurs., Oct. 6, 5-8 p.m.: Opening reception for a members’ exhibition featuring Star Rush and Valentina Vitols along with Minh Carrico.
