College hires Tonya Drake for new Equity and Inclusion position

Tonya Drake joins the staff of Edmonds College in a new position — Special Assistant to the President for Equity and Inclusion.
“We’re happy to have Tonya on board to help steward our values of inclusion, equity, and respect,” said Edmonds College President Jean Hernandez.
Drake joins the college with more than 17 years of experience as a higher education leader.
“I’m dedicated to student learning and student success and am excited to contribute to furthering efforts of equity and inclusion across the campus and within the community,” Drake said.
Drake was a first generation college student and identifies as First Nations.
She holds a Ph.D. in Education Leadership and Policy Studies from Arizona State University. She also holds a Master's of Education from ASU, Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from the University of Washington, and an Associate of Arts from Lower Columbia College in Longview, Wash.
Her experience includes working for the University of Washington in a Federal TRIO program; ASU in scholar recruitment; GateWay Community College in a Federal TRIO program; Arizona Board of Regents in state higher education policy; Maricopa Community Colleges in student affairs administration; and Shoreline Community College as the Chief Student Affairs Officer.
