Edmonds CC Board of Trustee member Quentin Powers reappointed by Gov. Inslee
2/25/15
Quentin Powers was reappointed to the Edmonds College Board of Trustees on Feb. 6.
Gov. Jay Inslee reappointed Powers — currently the Vice Chair of the Edmonds CC Board of Trustees — to serve a five-year term through September 2019. Powers was initially appointed to the Board of Trustees in October 2006 by Gov. Christine Gregoire.
Powers is the Vice President of Internal Audit, Compliance, and Ethics at Premera Blue Cross. He has previously served as a past board member and president for the Puget Sound chapter of the Institute of Internal Auditors and as a past member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
In the community, Powers volunteers with Seattle Arts and Lectures and A Contemporary Theatre.
Powers rejoins fellow trustees: chair Emily Yim, Executive Director of The Washington Alliance for Better Schools; Dick Van Hollebeke, a retired financial services business owner and a former Edmonds City Council member; Diana Clay, a local real estate development business owner; Carl Zapora, Superintendent of Public Hospital District No. 2 (PHD2) Snohomish County; and student trustee Girish Chummun.
The Board of Trustees ensures the accountability of Edmonds College. Each member must reside within the college's district boundaries. The trustees also serve the statewide system of community and technical colleges responsible for creating opportunities for students across the state on the Association of Community College Trustees. The Board holds a minimum of six regular meetings and four study sessions each year, held at the college on the second Thursday of each month, at 4:30 p.m., September through June.
