Edmonds CC launches updated, vibrant website redesign
08/15/17Edmonds Community College is pleased to announce the Aug. 15 launch of its updated and vibrant website redesign. The redesigned site provides students, employees, and community members with a fresh, modern look and more user-friendly experience.
Last winter, Edmonds CC began working on the website’s redesign with the goal of aligning its look and feel with the college’s new brand identity, which launched July 2016.
The website’s content has not changed, but the look and feel has undergone a dramatic update to provide users with a more modern, fresh, and vibrant user interface. The site will continue to feature three main pages – college homepage, student portal, and employee portal.
There are also some exciting new features, including a customizable toolkit called MyEdCC for bookmarking favorite links and a redesigned layout of the employee directory with a robust search function. The site redesign continues to comply with ADA accessibility requirements and maintains its mobile and tablet responsiveness.
Edmonds CC looked to input from the campus and broader community in the redesign of its site. Online surveys were sent out to the campus, community, and major stakeholders. Analytics from the former site and a tool called heat mapping were used to track where users click and how they use the site.
All of the data was collected and used to inform site mapping decisions, like where to place headers, footers, menus, and more.
For example, the college found that 100 percent of prospective students are interested in Edmonds CC’s programs, 40 percent in how to apply, and 40 percent in general college information, like enrollment data, price, history, etc. Based on this data and the primary actions the college wants prospective students to take, the “Get Info,” “Visit,” and “Apply” buttons are now located at the top of the homepage for clear visibility.
Current students will also see updates to the student portal, including prominent links to Canvas, the college’s eLearning tool; EdMail, or students’ Edmonds CC email accounts; and class schedules and registration.
The new design gives current students a mobile-friendly site where all of the information they need to be successful, from information on registration and grades to advising, can be found in one place. It also showcases Triton life, serving as a hub for student life and activities while helping students feel connected and in-the-know.
Edmonds CC will continue to make updates to its new site to provide the campus and community with an easy-to-access hub for college information.
