Public hearing on the use of campus facilities for First Amendment activities

Edmonds Community College will hold a public hearing from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 27, to address the use of college facilities for First Amendment activities.
Public comments are invited on the proposed policies – 132Y-136 of the Edmonds CC Washington Administrative Code. View the proposed rule change document.
According to the policy, First Amendment activities include, but are not limited to, informational picketing, petition circulation, the distribution of informational leaflets or pamphlets, speech-making, demonstrations, rallies, appearances of speakers in outdoor areas, protests, meetings to display group feelings or sentiments and/or other types of constitutionally protected assemblies to share information, perspectives, or viewpoints.
Activities by both college and noncollege groups will be discussed.
Pending action by the college’s Board of Trustees on Nov. 14, the new policy would be effective no earlier than Dec. 1.
