Edmonds CC to host the second annual Technology Exposition
03/15/16Learn about cracking passwords and the internal workings of your hard drive at the second annual Technology Exposition on April 2 from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. at Edmonds Community College.
“There are many technological advances we hear about on a daily basis but never have the opportunity to see in action or learn more about,” said Steve Hailey, Edmonds CC Information Security and Digital Forensics Instructor. “For example, we hear stories all the time about hackers cracking passwords. We’ll be showing how this is done and how to protect yourself from this type of attack.”
The free event will feature Washington state’s Technology Syndicate — a group of technology experts and educators — that have prepared a series of one hour activities geared towards those at all skill levels.
The activities will feature hands-on labs that cover Web application development, computer forensics, capturing network traffic, designing computer networks, using virtual machines, and diagnosing hard drive problems.
Attendees can choose to participate in the hands-on activities or observe.
“This is a great opportunity to learn about many different areas of technology,” said Hailey. “There will be something for everyone at this event, from the computer novice to the information technology professional.”
