Edmonds CC Convergence Writers Series features a reading by science and environmental writer Rachel Clark

Edmonds Community College’s Convergence Writers Series is featuring science and environmental writer Rachel Clark for a reading on Thurs., May 5 at 11:30 a.m. in the college’s Black Box Theatre on campus, 20310 68th Ave. W, Lynnwood. It is free and open to the public.

Rachel Clark, author of just-released "The Blackfish Prophecy," a work of fiction set in Washington state about wild orcas that shows the ancient bond between humans and whales and questions whether orcas belong in captivity.

Her book has received praise from Dr. Jane Goodall and Tim Zimmerman, associate producer and co-writer of "Blackfish."

While in college, Clark worked with captive Beluga whales and dolphins, then encountered killer whales swimming free in their home waters.

For the last twenty years, she’s devoted her career as a science and environment writer to conveying the wonders of nature. "The Blackfish Prophecy" is her first book.
