Unearth your inner anthropologist: explore human history at our open house
Ever wondered about the story of humankind? Want to see evolution brought to life?
Then step into the Edmonds College Anthropology Lab – a hidden gem right here on campus!
We're opening our doors to all students and the general public on Friday, Feb. 28, and Friday, Mar. 7, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., in Mountlake Terrace Hall, Room 220 (just above Triton Espresso!).
Prepare to be amazed by our museum-quality collection of artifacts, models, and bones. Get up close with replicas of "Lucy," one of the earliest known hominins, and meet "Ned the Neanderthal." These incredible resources offer a tangible connection to our shared human past.
This isn't just a dusty museum, though! Our open house is your chance to dive into the fascinating world of anthropology. Explore the diverse fields of archaeology, bioanthropology, linguistics, cultural anthropology, and human ecology. Chat with our passionate faculty and discover how these disciplines connect to everything from ancient civilizations to modern society.
Think anthropology is just for future anthropologists? Think again! As Anthropology Department Head Ashley Pickard explains, "Anthropology isn’t just for future anthropologists—its holistic approach provides valuable real-world skills and perspectives that support success in any career. The Anthropology Lab Open House is a chance for all students to explore how our courses can enhance their academic and professional journeys."
Whether you're curious about human origins, interested in different cultures, or simply looking for engaging electives, the Anthropology Lab Open House has something for you. Our courses are not only fascinating in their own right, but they also fulfill requirements for a variety of degree programs.
