Meet Men of Color Scholars program assistant Rubye Hayden and care coordinators Shawn Brennan and Zarby Kakar (left to right), the friendly faces behind TRIO. They're all former Edmonds College students (and products of the TRIO program!) who know firsthand the challenges you might face. 

Shawn, a first-generation student from a low-income background, understands the importance of support systems. Zarby, an immigrant from Afghanistan, returned to college after raising four children – she knows the dedication it takes to pursue your dreams. Rubye, a seasoned student who returned to school later in life, brings a wealth of experience and encouragement.

“TRIO was my home away from home while I was in college,” said Zarby. “This is where I graduated from, and this is where I came back to. That's what makes it very special for me.”

TRIO provides personalized support in tutoring, academic advising, and guidance on everything from financial aid to career exploration. Our team connects you with resources across campus, helping you navigate any challenges you may encounter.

Our care coordinators are assisted by a group of exceptional tutors who work closely with you on an individual basis. Tutors get to know your learning style, identify your strengths and areas for improvement, and collaborate with your instructors to ensure you receive the support you need to succeed.

To determine if you're eligible for TRIO, follow these steps:

1. Review the program eligibility requirements.
2. Complete the TRIO application packet via the green apply button on the website.
3. Schedule and attend an intake appointment with a TRIO staff member.
