NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

Edmonds College will hold a public hearing on proposed changes to Washington Administrative Code (WAC) 132Y-125 and 132Y-300 on January 9, 2025 from 2-3 p.m. The hearing will be held in Woodway Hall, Room 202.

The proposed changes to 132Y-125 and 132Y-300 of the Edmonds College WAC include updating the college’s Title IX investigative and disciplinary procedures addressing sex discrimination, including sexbased harassment.

The public is invited to make comments on the proposed policy changes at the January 9 hearing. If preferred, written comments can be submitted from Jan. 1-9, 2025 by emailing titleix@edmonds.edu. Pending action by the college’s Board of Trustees on Feb. 13, 2025, the updated procedures would become effective 30 days after filed with the Code Reviser’s office.

What is Title IX?

Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 protects people from sex and gender discrimination, including sexual misconduct, in educational programs and activities at institutions that receive federal financial assistance. Edmonds College is committed to providing an environment free from discrimination on the basis of sex and gender. The college provides many resources to faculty, staff, and students to address concerns related to sex and gender discrimination that may negatively impact community members' educational and career progress.

Who is responsible for ensuring Title IX compliance at Edmonds College?

The Title IX Coordinator has been designated to oversee the implementation of the college's Title IX policies and procedures. The college recognizes the great impact that sexual misconduct can have on those who have experienced sexual assault, nonconsensual sexual contact, sexual harassment, sexual intimidation, sexual exploitation, stalking, and dating and domestic violence. We demonstrate that we are a community that cares by facilitating preventative education efforts, connecting faculty, staff, and students to support services, and enforcing our sex discrimination and sex-based harassment policies.

Edmonds College is committed to:

  • Equity in the workplace, classroom, and all college programs and activities.
  • Creating an inclusive environment where each individual has access to an education and is free of a hostile academic and work environment.
  • Immediately responding to all complaints of sex discrimination and sex-based harassment.
  • Steps of prevention to address and stop sex discrimination and sex-based harassment before it happens through training, education, and resources.
