How to Apply

BFET Getting Started Checklist:

  1. Apply online for admission to Edmonds College and take the Accuplacer Test (Optional for some programs). Prior to registering for classes, most new students will need to take math and or English Placement.
    Choose any program of study below a bachelor's degree except Associate in Arts Direct Transfer Agreement (DTA) degrees. BFET can support most certificates and Associate degrees (including AAS-T) offered at Edmonds College. BFET also supports ELA, GED,  HS+ and Running Start.

       Make sure your program of study is correct:

    • Using your ctcLink student ID number and account, login to ctcLink.
    • To view your program plan in ctclink, choose the “Academics” tile and then “Programs.”
    • If your program plan is not correct, submit an online request to change it.
  1. Complete the 2024-2025 Free Application for Federal Student Aid  (required)—  FAFSA OR WASFA . Check out deadlines for filing the FAFSA  OR WASFA (Do  not complete both).

    Complete all your financial aid paperwork even if recent deadlines have passed. BFET can help you with tuition and book awards until financial aid is available.  After you file for FAFSA OR WASFA, check with the Financial Aid office to determine what additional steps may be requierd. You can also check your financial aid status and "To Do" tasks in your Ctclink portal 

  2. Submit the BFET application after steps 1 & 2 above are completed. Please be sure your DSHS client ID or Social Security number is entered correctly on the application. The DSHS client ID can be found on the Basic Food award letter you received from DSHS. If you prefer to fill out a paper application, please come to Gateway Hall, 1st floor, Room 106  on Mondays, Wednesdays or Thursdays  between 11 a.m.-3 p.m OR  by appointment.  

  3. Submit the BFET Release Clause
    The release clause is required to check/confirm your eligibility for BFET. 

    *Note: If you need childcare or a food referral  to DSHS, please  include that on your bfet application and we will follow up with you for your next steps.

    5. Have your academic plan completed by advising.

Priority Deadlines

Priority deadlines are the recommended dates to apply for the BFET program . 

Fall Quarter 2024 Priority Deadline: by Sept. 1, 2024

Fall quarter classes begin  Sept. 23, 2024.

Enrolling in BFET:

If you are eligible for BFET, we will contact you via email to set up an intake appointment. Intake appointments usually begin about 30 days before the start of the quarter. If your application is incomplete or not approved, you will also be notified via the email/phone you provided on your BFET application. Please allow up to 7-10 business days for your application to be processed.

Childcare Subsidy Eligibility: BFET offers referrals to Working Connections Childcare (WCCC). There are some additional steps — and potentially another meeting — to certify your participation for childcare. Please visit Working Connections Childcare (WCCC) for additional instructions.
