The transition from community college to a university culminating in an Associate's Degree and Bachelor's Degree is commonly known as "2+2".  Students will attend a community college to complete lower-division general education requirements and then transfer to a university. There, they can take upper-division courses and thereby complete a bachelor’s degree. Normally it takes about four years to complete all of the courses required for a bachelor’s degree.

The two-year associate’s degree in arts or sciences will usually transfer to any university in the United States. In order to assure that the university will accept all of the credits in the associate’s degree, Edmonds College makes transfer and articulation agreements with specific universities. Edmonds College has transfer agreements to accept the associate’s degree with all of the state public universities in Washington State, including  Central Washington University, Eastern Washington University, Evergreen State College, University of Washington, Washington State University, and Western Washington University.

International students may receive guaranteed conditional acceptance to a university upon admission to Edmonds College. Guaranteed conditional acceptance is granted to students who meet the conditions of the accepting university, which include completion of the associate’s degree with a minimum grade point average (GPA). Each university has its own GPA minimum requirements.

To receive a letter of conditional guaranteed acceptance, indicate on your application the university from which you would like to receive a letter from the list above. Edmonds College will add new universities to the list of participating institutions, so please check the list immediately before applying.

The two-year Associate of Technical Arts degree programs are designed to provide professional and technical training to prepare international graduates for specific careers or to improve existing skills. These programs are designed to prepare you for entry-level into specific jobs or to improve existing skills. Our professional-technical programs range from short-term certificates to two-year degrees.

Certificates are short programs - usually 6 to 9 months long - that are designed to provide specialized training and skills in a number of interest areas.

Edmonds currently offers four Bachelor of Applied Science (BAS) degrees and has more coming soon! Compared to other four-year degrees, BAS degrees are more career-focused, have more hands-on training, build more on work experience, and are more affordable.

Yes. If you do not have a TOEFL you will need to take an English assessment test to see which level you will start. Learn more about English requirements. 

You can begin by looking online to see the types of degrees that are offered. You can also consult with International and Academic Advisors about the different types of degrees that are available and how our programs can help you reach your goals.  

Yes, you can decide your major after you have arrived. If you cannot decide on a major right away, we normally recommend that you start with the Associate in Arts transfer degree. You can also keep in mind that students are free to change their majors at anytime.

After getting your placement test results, you will be advised on the classes you can take and the programs we offer.

You should meet with an Academic Advisor to get information on your new program and its requirements. You should also meet with your International Student Advisor to discuss any changes that need to be made to your I-20.

The requirements will depend on which graduate school you are accepted to. Communication with the graduate school and an advisor at Edmonds College will help you plan the classes you need to take.
