ABOUT CRI
Mission
The Creative Retirement Institute is a volunteer-driven, self-supporting organization whose mission is to provide affordable, quality lifelong learning opportunities to adults in a supportive environment.
History
The Creative Retirement Institute was created in 1993 in response to seniors' growing interests in northern King and Snohomish counties. Many involved citizens and the directors of three local senior centers joined forces with Edmonds College to develop an expanded program at the college.
With the community's help and generosity of the Founding Friends of CRI, the program officially became an option at Edmonds College when it launched in the Spring of 1993 with fourteen classes.
The following year, in 1994, CRI received an Award of Excellence for "Outstanding New Program" from the Association for Continuing Higher Education. By 1996, the program became self-supporting, and membership reached over 300.
CRI Class Assistants Committee members may occasionally contact you to see if you are interested in helping with a class.
