New Student Advising

You belong at Edmonds, and we're so happy you've taken steps to apply for admission and start your experience with us. To ensure a smooth start to your academic journey, all new degree and certificate-seeking students* are required to complete our New Student Advising steps (below) .

Flexible Advising Options:

This process is designed with flexiblity and involves in-person, virtual, or email correspondance options for each step, depending on your needs and preferred advising style. 

Your Advising Steps:

  1. Complete New Student Orientation
  2. Select your a) Pathway and b) Program
  3. Complete required placements (and review prior coursework with an advisor, if applicable)
  4. After completing steps 1-3, you will consult with an advisor to create your starting plan
  5. Sign up for classes

*PLEASE NOTE: The following student groups are still welcome to utilize the resources on this page but should reach out to their specific program for advising and registration: WATR Center, Corrections, ELA, International HS, HS 21+, HS Completion, GED, EDCAP, i-Best, OIP (International), CIHS/ WBW, FLED, Early Achievers Grant, BAS programs, Licensed Practical Nursing (LPN) and WorkFirst.

1. PrepareThis interactive orientation experience will let you explore Edmonds College, learn about valuable resources, and let us warmly and virtually welcome you to the Triton community! (Click to expand and begin):

2.a. PathwayIt is important to consider your long-term goals so that you can develop a personalized plan from the start. This will include exploring areas of study, and determining potential careers or educational goals (pathway).

2.b ProgramA program is a specific degree or certificate at Edmonds College that you will earn and graduate with by completing requirements. It is important that your selected program aligns and prepares you for the next step in your larger pathway goal.

3. Placement & Prior CreditMany degree and certificate programs require placement into English and math levels before you can sign up for classes. You may need prior coursework reviewed for potential credit before selecting your first classes. (Click to expand for more details about placement options and reviewing transcripts):

4. Plan (With an Advisor)Once you have selected a program and processed your required placements, you are ready to work with an advisor to create starting plan. (Click to expand and learn more):

5. Picking and Paying for ClassesOnce you have a starting plan, you can use this tutorial to sign up for classes. The video below outlines how to log into ctcLink, search for courses, understand course listings, enroll, and pay for classes. You can also show your plan to one of our Advising Navigators in the Advising Resource Center , and they can assist you on our lobby computers. (Click to expand):
