Active/reserve students

Active duty military personnel and dependents serving in Washington state are eligible for resident tuition rates while attending Edmonds College, regardless of their home of record. You and your dependents must provide the following documents to Enrollment Services in Lynnwood Hall to confirm residency status:

1. Copy of military orders to the state of Washington
2. Show current/valid military ID card to Enrollment Services staff (no copy needed)

If you are on active duty, you may access your VA education benefits. However, you are not eligible for Post 9/11 housing stipends or BAH payments. You are eligible for payment of tuition and text book allowances under Post 9/11. For questions about your benefits, contact the VA Certifying Official, or VA directly.

Active duty, reservist, and guard personnel may be eligible for Tuition Assistance (TA) via their branch of service while attending Edmonds College. Eligibility requirements vary, and applications must be submitted through your branch of service. Inquire with your current unit or access the links below for more information and applications. Important note:  All service members wishing to use Tuition Assistance must receive approval from their Education Services Officer (ESO) or counselor before enrolling in classes.  Once you have obtained written approval (typically in the form of a voucher), present the voucher to the Cashiers' Office on the first floor of Lynnwood Hall to have the funds applied to your tuition and fees. Contact the Edmonds College Cashiers' office to arrange tuition payments.

You must be on active duty to transfer benefits to eligible dependents and spouses. For information or questions, visit the vets.gov website, or contact the VA directly.

If you receive deployment orders during a quarter of study and cannot complete the quarter, you are eligible for withdrawal from classes and receive a 100% refund of tuition and fees. If this happens to you, take the following steps and submit documents Enrollment Services in Lynnwood Hall:

1. Full copy of deployment/activation orders
2. Drop classes in ctcLink
3. Fill out the Quarterly Form

If you are receiving state or federal financial aid, there is no penalty associated with your withdrawal. Provide Edmonds College Financial Aid with a copy of your deployment orders and a brief letter explaining why you must withdraw. You may return in good academic standing at a later time.
