FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How much do Pursuit classes cost?

Classes are free for students who are between the ages of 14-22 and have any type of documented disability (IEP, 504, college or medically diagnosed).

Our program is funded by a Pre-Employment Transition Services (Pre-ETS) program through the Washington State Division of Vocational Rehabilitation. This is why the Pre-ETS form is required for participation in these classes and other opportunities.

Am I a good fit for Pursuit classes?

You're a good fit if you:

  • are 14-21 years old
  • have an IEP, 504, or documented disability
  • are enrolled in an educational program
  • want to gain skills in self advocacy and workplace readiness, create a functional resume, and tour job sites
  • are able to work independently in a college environment

What support services are available in Pursuit?

Instructors are trained or equipped to support students with disabilities, and there is always a 1:15 teacher to student ratio in classrooms. Job site tours have an even smaller teacher to student ratio.

What training and opportunities do students get in Pursuit?

Pursuit offers up to 240 hours of in-person or virtual training every 12 months.  The training focuses on workplace readiness, self advocacy, peer mentoring, and work-based learning experiences like job site tours, job shadowing, and informational interviews. Students can also get connected to one paid and one unpaid internship every 12 months.

Is transportation provided?

No, transportation is not currently provided for our in-person classes. Students can park in the visitor's lot (in Lot L on the southeast corner of campus) or get a parking permit for the quarter.

What is Pre-ETS?

It stands for pre-employment transition services and is a term used by the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation (DVR). Students are eligible for Pre-ETS if they are 14-21 years old with an IEP, 504, or any documented disability, are enrolled in an educational program, and have turned in a Pre-ETS form. We believe every student should have this form signed and a part of their IEP or 504 folder to access services throughout the time they spend in school. DVR Pre-ETS Website

What is DVR?

The Division of Vocational Rehabilitation (DVR) is a statewide resource that assists people with disabilities to prepare for, secure, maintain, advance in, or regain employment. DVR partners with businesses and organizations to develop employment opportunities. They serve people who seek meaningful and secure employment, but whose disabilities may result in one or more barriers to achieving employment goals.
