Pursuit Internships

Summer Quarter we are offering internships for students ages 16-21 in many different fields on the Edmonds College campus!

Summer 2024 Internships

Internships are for being a teaching assistant or camp counselor role at youth camps in drama, STEAM, and robotics. You will be paid $25/hour at the end of your 40 hours.

  1. Potential interns must be at least 16-21 and have a documented disability (IEP, 504, medically documented disability) and be able to work at least 40 hours.
  2. Fill out the Internship Interest Survey
  3. Potential interns must have a completed Pre-ETS form on file with DVR
  4. Must have a teacher recommendation for working with youth camps emailed to Diana.George@edmonds.edu
  5. After completing steps two, three, and four you will be contacted by email about your potential internship in May.

If you are not selected to be an intern in these camps, you can still be a part of the camp as a participant. Please consider joining the camp for a fee that you can find on Community Education's Website.

Benefits of Internships

Students will get a taste of a career path, improve their resume, and gain a job reference in that field. All interns will work at least 40 hours in a Teaching Assistant role for Edmonds College Summer Youth Camps.

  • Data shows that participating in work-based learning programs increases employment success, knowledge about career fields, and adaptability to work with colleagues, motivation, and skills to self-advocate for accommodations.
  • Students with disabilities have 4 x more difficulty gaining employment and will have a higher chance of employment after having internships
  • According to a Research Brief on Disability Recruitment and Hiring, businesses that have internship programs for people with disabilities were 4.5 times more likely to hire a person with a disability than businesses without such a program.
